Hi, tried this one but getting an error:
/usr/sbin/pkg_add -r wget
Error: Unable to get ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-8.1-release/Latest/wget.tbz: File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access)
pkg_add: unable to fetch 'ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-8.1-release/Latest/wget.tbz' by URL
Know anything about it?

Sorry, I did that some time ago and never did update pfSense to a "later" version as I only use it on conventions and festivals and never wanted to break the good running state (took me some sweet time to get it to that point ^^') - so, sorry I can't help you, but you should definitly try out the pfSense Forum, I think these guys will help you out! ^^
Yeah i think so to, thanks anyway.

Not a problem at all.
Just a quick hint, the 8.1 packages do not exist anymore (as it seems via ftp). ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-8.2-release/Latest/wget.tbz (Version 8.2) does work excellent. Maybe just try to install the package directly via pkg_add (just look for the commandoparamters of pkg_add and try to install directly from the url) - or do upgrade your pfSense version. But that should get you in the right direction, I hope.
As Nico pointed out, you can use the 8.2 ports instead, use this command:
pkg_add ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-8.2-release/Latest/curl.tbz
